Managing an escape room venue provides a 'real-world lab' for observing human behavior and interaction design. Players are met with a complex system of affordances and signifies designed to guide them toward an escape. My role is to ensure this journey remaines achievable, satisfying and enjoyable.

User Testing

Iterative Design & User Testing

By monitoring and assisting thousands of groups, I conduct what is essentially continuous, live usability testing. I analyse exactly where teams encounter friction that breaks their immersion. Using this data, I work to:

  • Spot... moments when players consistently misinterpret clues.
  • Iterate... over physical hints or room flow to bypass frustration without lowering the challenge.
  • Analyse... players post-game reactions and feedback to improve the experience for future teams.
